Note: The following is my headcanon and my version of how I see my humanized versions of the MLP characters and does not affect the show itself. If you don't like them then oh well.
Well today is Canada Day and I thought I would draw Twilight Sparkle's (aka Tara Gordon in my headcanon) family celebrating Canada.
Basically Twilight in my version comes from a upper middle class Afro-Canadian family. They used to live in Canada but moved to the US (Now some of you may asked why doesn't take place in Equestria. As for her family we have:
John Gordon: Tara's father, he is a successful doctor, a kind hearted and dedicated father, he truly loves his family and will do anything for them, however doesn't mean he is a push over. When his kids get into trouble, he knows how to handle them.
Claire Gordon: Tara's Mother, she is a businesswoman, who truly keeps the house in check. A loving mother, she becomes devastated when something bad happens to her children especially her youngest son, Leroy who constantly gets picked on.
John "Shining Armor"Gordon Junior: Tara's older brother,A captain in the Canadian Guard, who has a sense of honor. Despite being in the military he knows how to loosen up and have fun. He was Tara's first and best friend and truly cares for his younger sister and his adoptive younger brother Leroy "Spike" Gordon, he even taught him how to defend himself from bullies as well. He is engaged to Rachel Cadeza (aka Princess Cadence of the Crystal empire in Canterlot..but that won't be revealed till later) and loves her to death.
Leroy "Spike" Gordon: Tara's younger brother, Leroy was adopted from an orphanage in Toronto when he was three years old. He doesn't know who his real parents are and personally he doesn't care. Despite the difference in race, Leroy sees the Gordons as his family and hates it when people insult him and in his family all because he is a white child adopted by a black family and gets into many fights in school to the point that it worries his mother. Leroy loves his family and is very close to his older sister. He has a huge crush on one of Tara's friends, Eleanor Wu (aka Rarity in my headcanon). A huge fan of Comic books and Football (American and Canadian football) Leroy is a kid with a good heart and just wants people to accept his family.
As you can see here I modeled Twilight's parents on the Huxtable's from the Cosby Show, especially in fashion and characteristics. I plan to do more with Shining Armor in the future and as for Spike, I have a plan for him that writers of the show can't seem to do: I'm going to make him interesting.
